I started my career as an educator: a high school Spanish teacher, a university instructor and a university administrator. Then I had three kids, and my priorities (and my career plans) changed. I wanted to stay home with them and still make money, which is how I started trying to build a business online.
I spent three years trying about ten different ways. An MLM where I never sold a thing. Ecommerce that netted me about 30 cents after shipping. A Facebook group I grew to 2,500 members, and a podcast parents still thank me for. None of them paid me, and I spent about $30K on courses and programs that never paid me back.
What I wish I'd done from the start? Run ads, so the right people could find my work without me chasing them. Now I build differently, with family and life in mind, and I help teacher creators do the same.
